The United States’ women’s national soccer team are World Cup Champions once again. Β The Americans won their third World Cup Sunday, downing Japan 5-2 in a high-scoring final.

Carli Lloyd led Team USA with three goals, all scored in the first 16 minutes of play. Β She says her teammates knew they were destined to do well.

“You know, we all stayed true to what we believed in this World Cup.Β Yes, our defense was solid from start to finish. Β Yes, our attack took a little bit to get going. Β But we all had faith. Β We all knew that our best was yet to come. Β We kept saying it. Β We kept believing it. Β The coaching staff kept believing it. Β And sure enough, we just performed one of the most epic games in the history of soccer.”
