Five Arrested In Hickory Prostitution Sting

HICKORY, NC — Police say five women were arrested during a prostitution sting Wednesday.

According to officials, the sting was carried out by several agencies including the Hickory, Conover, and Newton Police Departments. The sting took place in the area of 11th Avenue SW and South Center Street.

Five women were arrested and charged in the operation:

  • Mary Whisnant, 54, was charged with Felony Solicit Prostitution and Misdemeanor Solicit Crimes Against Nature.
  • Tajuana Young, 33, was charged with Felony Solicit Prostitution and Misdemeanor Solicit Crimes Against Nature.
  • Jamie Crawford, 29, was charged with Felony Solicit Prostitution, Misdemeanor Solicit Crimes Against Nature, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • Angela Burgess, 47, was charged with Felony Solicit Prostitution and Misdemeanor Solicit Crimes Against Nature.
  • Lillian Meeks, 60, was charged with Misdemeanor Solicit Crimes Against Nature and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
