LANCASTER, SC — Officials say one person has died after a multi-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon involving a motorcycle.
The rider, 27-year-old Jason Sims, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to officials. The accident happened around 4:40pm on Highway 5 near Tam Lane.
Officials say Sims came up on a Honda Civic and tried to slow down, but lost control and hit the rear of the car. Sims was thrown into oncoming traffic, according to reports, and hit by a Nissan SUV.
Officials say he was wearing a helmet. Sims died at the scene.
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office and SC Highway Patrol are investigating.
