Nine Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC) athletes became official spokespersons for the organization after completing the SONC Global Messenger Training.
The training was held at the SONC headquarters in Morrisville from Feb. 14-16.
As Global Messengers, the athletes recruit others and volunteers. They also give presentations sharing the impact that Special Olympics has had in their lives. In the three-day training, athletes learned facts about Special Olympics and presented their first speech to the group.
