IREDELL COUNTY, NC — Deputies say Travis Mosher, 17, is being charged with multiple crimes involving vehicle thefts and break-ins.
According to officials, one vehicle was reported stolen and several were broken into on Isle of Pines Road on July 27th. A short time later, a jet ski from a nearby community marina at Cove Creek Loop was reported stolen, and then another from across the cove at Squam Court.
Deputies were then called about a vehicle theft in progress, and found another stolen vehicle abandoned in the cul-de-sac on Poplis Road off of Brawley School Road. A K9 unit tracked the suspect to a maintenance building that had been broken into at Trump National Golf Club. While searching the area, another vehicle belonging to the golf club was found abandoned in some nearby woods.
On July 30th, another vehicle was reported stolen on Easton Drive. It was later found nearby in the same area as the other crimes.
Investigators say they were able to establish Mosher, who also lived in the area where the crimes were being committed, as the suspect after interviewing multiple witnesses. One witness even admitted to riding in one of the stolen vehicles, officials say, but not knowing it was stolen.
Officials say Mosher was taking the vehicles and jet skis on joy rides while committing other crimes that included setting off multiple fire extinguishers at night.
Travis Mosher has been charged with five counts of Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle, six counts of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, one count of Breaking and Entering to a Building, and two counts of Misdemeanor Larceny.
