Bridge reopens in Swannanoa 5 months after Helene
213 bridges and 800 culverts have been repaired or replaced after being damaged by Helene
SWANNANOA, N.C. — Wonderful news out of Swannanoa. The Whitson Avenue Bridge reopened Wednesday afternoon reconnecting U.S. Highway 70 to Old U.S. Highway 70. Both of which are main thoroughfares. This comes five months after Helene devastated that area.
According to the latest update from N.C. DOT, 213 bridges and 800 culverts have been repaired or replaced after being damaged by Helene.
