CHARLOTTE, NC –The WATER QUALITY advisory that was issued on Friday, August 4, 2017 for the pond at the Park Road Community Park was lifted today.
The WATER QUALITY advisory was issued following a sewage spill that discharged to the pond on August 4, 2017. The discharge was stopped immediately following its detection.
Water samples collected in the area of the spill by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services’ staff reveal that bacteria counts are within safe levels, therefore the water quality advisory has been lifted.
Rusty Rozzelle, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services’ Water Quality Program Manager, said the advisories are standard procedure. “It was necessary to notify residents of the impacted water quality conditions in the pond so they could use caution while recreating in the area,” said Rozzelle.
