8AM Couch Chat: Woman Kicked Out Of Church For Breastfeeding
A local mom says she was kicked out of the Elevation Church in Ballantyne for breast feeding during a service. Amanda Zilliken posted a photo and says she had a cover on when a church volunteer took her to a bathroom. The church is saying sorry and that it was a misunderstanding. They also said the church has several designated areas for nursing moms at the Ballantyne location.
North Carolina law says a woman can breast feed anywhere she’s allowed to be and she doesn’t have to cover up.
Now under federal law, your job has to provide a place other than a restroom for nursing moms. But churches set their own rules about where women can breastfeed.
From a museum in London to the floor of the Australian Parliament, women are getting shamed for where they’ve chosen to nurse. What’s the big deal?
