8-year-old Cleveland County Girl Dies after Being Hit by Stray Bullet
GAFFNEY, SC – An 8-year-old Cleveland County girl died Sunday after being struck in the head by a stray bullet.
Investigators say she is the innocent victim of gang violence.
8-year-old Lamaya Bradley lived near Boiling Springs, in Cleveland County.
But family friends say she was visiting her cousin at an apartment building in Gaffney when the shooting happened.
Investigators say it happened around 1:00am when suspected gang members began firing multiple rounds in the parking lot.
Bradley was sitting on a sofa inside when a bullet struck her in the head, according to the Cherokee County coroner. The little girl died at the hospital.
A close family friend says Lamaya played with her granddaughter nearly every day.
“She was just a loving child. Real humble, her parents done a good job with her. She come from a great home. She didn’t deserve this. And my heart goes out to them. And this whole community is just devastated,” Sharon Wilson says.
