  • Weekend Storm Threat
Discussion:
We’re in for another warm and dry day across the region with highs soaring into the upper 70s to near 80 — about 15 degrees above normal. But, low relativeΒ humidity, down to 15-25%, and gusts up to 15-20 mph this afternoon will increase the fire danger. Tomorrow a weak system moves in bringing more clouds, but limited rain chances. Highs will still reach the mid 70s, and remain above average through the end of the week.
A potent low pressure system will develop thisΒ weekend, pushing a strong cold front into the Carolinas Saturday night into Sunday morning. A line of storms will be capable of producing damaging wind, embedded tornadoes and heavyΒ rain leading to localized flooding. Timing on this can still change, but confidence is increasing of a stormy weekend.
