ELLERBE, N.C. — Police are investigating after a husband and wife were found shot and killed inside a vehicle in Ellberbe, North Carolina. Investigators say a child was also inside the vehicle but was found unharmed.
Police were initially called to the scene on Lee Thee Church Road after receiving a call about a possible vehicle accident. Once police arrived on the scene, they found Joey and Katie Cassidy dead from gunshot wounds. A small child was located in the back seat secured in a child restraint seat. The child was not injured.
The incident was believed to have occurred around 9:30am on August 20th. Police say they do have a person of interest but are still following all leads and asking the community to contact them with any information about this crime.
