- Clear and Cooler Next Week
Discussion:
We’re tracking a strong system that could bring severe storms to the region this weekend. Ahead of it, expect warm and breezy weather today and Friday with highs reaching the mid 70s. An upper level disturbance will add some clouds back into the mix today, but rain chances remain limited, outside of an isolated mountain shower. The real concern arrives Saturday night into Sunday morning with a strong cold front that will bring heavy rain, damaging wind and a risk of tornadoes. A strong low level jet will fuel intense storms overnight, meaning the severe threat will continue even after dark. The timing and exact details are still being fine tuned, but this is lining up to be a high impact event with gusty winds even outside of storms and a potential for isoalted flooding in spots that see multiple rounds of rain. By Sunday afternoon storms will clear out, but gusty winds could linger. Monday brings the return of cooler and calmer weather with highs back in the low 60s.
