UPDATE: Driver faces charges after accident involving Trooper on I-485
CHARLOTTE, NC – A driver faces charges after investigators say he ran into a parked State Highway Patrol SUV on I-485 Friday morning.
The wreck shutdown part of the outer loop near South Boulevard for several hours during the morning rush.
The Highway Patrol says the trooper was parked, monitoring traffic, when a car went off the road and hit the marked patrol SUV, which then hit the concrete median barrier.
Medic took Trooper Brad Gaines to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He’s assigned to Troop H, District 5 (Mecklenburg County.)
The driver of the car, 33-year-old Willie McClain of York, and a three-year-old passenger in his car are both in the hospital with serious injuries.
