Gas Prices Are On The Rise After Hurricane Harvey Damages Texas Refineries
CHARLOTTE, NC — Gas prices in and around Charlotte are on the rise as oil refineries in Texas struggle to stay open.
Gas Buddy reports the average price of unleaded in Charlotte has gone up nearly 15 cents in the past 24 hours. The average price is now around $2.34 per gallon.
The largest oil refinery in the country is now running at just 40% capacity. A Gas Buddy analyst tells WCCB Charlotte that higher prices could last for several weeks if more refineries shut down.
