CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A tornado watch has been issued for several counties, including Mecklenburg, until 10 p.m., on Friday night.
The other counties included in the tornado watch include: Alexander, Anson, Bladen, Burke, Cabbarus, Caldwell, Catawba, Chatham, Cleveland, Cumberland, Davidson, Davie, Gaston, Harnett, Hoke, Iredell, Johnston, Lee, Lincoln, Montgomery, Moore, Randolph, Richmond, Robeson, Rowan, Rutherford, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Union, Wake, and Wayne.
Meteorologists say conditions are ripe for rotating thunderstorms due to the moisture and warmth in the air.
Eastern Mecklenburg, York, Chesterfield and Lancaster Counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 3:15 p.m.
