HICKORY, NC– A Hickory man pleaded guilty to felony child abuse Wednesday.
Justin Lee Fay, 27, was sentenced to at least 6 years in prison after being convicted of abuse that led to his girlfriends child’s death.
Fay was reportedly watching the 4-month-old and became frustrated with the child’s crying, leading him to throw the infant down on a sofa.
Investigators say Fay went to take a shower after throwing the child down and when he returned the child was unresponsive.
Medical personnel determined that the child’s death was not caused from the accident but that Fay had previously abused the victim and his delay in getting medical attention led to additional injury.
