Police Identify Woman Killed After Train Collides With Vehicle In Gastonia

GASTONIA, NC — Police have released the identity of the woman who died after her vehicle was hit by a train in Gastonia.

The accident happened on Cox Road near Lowell Road around 8:15pm. Β Investigators say 84-year-old Aline Clemmer entered the railroad crossing behind traffic at the stop light at NC 7. Β The train was traveling east on the railroad tracks causing the signals and barrier devices to activate.

According to witnesses, Clemmer moved her vehicle within the crossing, but subsequently backed up onto the rail, in the path of the train.

Clemmer died from her injuries on the scene. Β Anyone who may have seen the accident is asked to call 704-866-6702.
