Domestic Violence Call Turns Into A Homicide In North Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD says they are investigating the city’s 66th homicide after a man was shot inside a north Charlotte home.
The incident happened on Dogwood Avenue off of North Graham Street in north Charlotte. Police say they were called to a domestic violence situation and found William Jerome Rann Jr. with a gunshot wound inside the home. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say they found a person of interest, Michael Norman Smith, inside the home, and are not looking for any other suspects at this time. Investigators say they believe both parties are blood relatives.
Mr. Smith was detained on scene and interviewed by Homicide Detectives at police headquarters. Following the interview, Smith was charged with Murder and transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
