GASTONIA, NC – A man has been arrested in connection to a deadly crash on Hoffman Road in Gastonia.
Police say Raterrio Sheppard was racing his burgundy Dodge Charger against a white Dodge Challenger when the crash happened on March 28th.
The Challenger, driven by Porscha Mason, hit a Toyota Highlander head-on during the race. Mason died at the scene.
Charges for Sheppard include:
- Second degree murder
- Felony hit and run causing serious injury
- Engaging in a speed competition (racing)
- Reckless driving
- Driving without a license
The Highlander that was hit had a woman and two young girls inside. The woman and one child are still in the hospital with very bad injuries. Shepard is now in jail with no chance of bail. The other juvenile was released with non-life-threatening injuries.
