Hiker dies on Blue Ridge Parkway

A hiker died Friday afternoon after falling into waters on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

It happened just before 3 p.m. Friday on the Boone Fork Trail near milepost 297.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene and began administering CPR on 40-year-old Jie Huang.

Huang was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation determined that Huang died as a result of his injuries sustained in the fall.
