WAXHAW, NC – An 83-year-old woman has been found dead after a fire burned through a home in Waxhaw.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office says firefighters were called to the burning home on Whispering Wind Road just before 10am on Monday.
Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames. Once they went through the home, they found the woman dead inside.
A second person managed to get out of the home by climbing through a window. Paramedics treated them at the scene and then took them to the hospital.
There’s no word at this time about what caused the fire.
