UPDATE: Underage person charged in Charlotte Harris Teeter fire
UPDATE:
CHARLOTTE, NC – An underage person is charged in connection to a 3-alarm fire at a Harris Teeter store in north Charlotte.
Nobody got hurt, but the fire caused $500,000 in damage to the store on Davis Lake Parkway near West W.T. Harris Boulevard on May 10, 2025.
Charlotte Fire shared information about the arrest on X Friday.
No information on the suspect is being released because of the person’s age.
ORIGINAL STORY (POSTED 5/11/25):
CHARLOTTE, NC – Charlotte Fire determined that the three-alarm fire at a Harris Teeter in north Charlotte on Saturday night was intentionally set.
Around 9:20 p.m., firefighters responded to the grocery store in the 8400 block of Davis Lake Parkway near West W.T. Harris Boulevard. Smoke was showing upon arrival, and a second alarm was struck.
A third alarm was struck 30 minutes later.

The blaze was controlled in 70 minutes by 90 firefighters. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
The fire caused $500,000 in damages.
The case is still under an active investigation.
