South Charlotte Mom Desperate to Find Missing Teen Son

CHARLOTTE, NC – A South Charlotte mom is desperate to hear from her missing son. 16-year-old Nathan Kocmond hasn’t been seen since he left home Monday.

“I would never want anyone to go through what we’re going through. This is, this is just horrible. It’s just haunting,” Sarah Kocmond says.

Her son told his sister he was headed to a Boy Scout meeting, but he never showed up. Now his cell phone is turned off and his mom says he’s deleted all his social media accounts.

“I think he just is trying to run away from responsibilities and as far away as possible,” Kocmond says.

One clue is that the teen suffered a concussion in a Providence Day School football game earlier this season.

His mom says he had become more isolated and seemed sad. But family members thought he was getting better recently.

“He doesn’t share his feelings much, as much as we try to give him all the space that he needs,” Kocmond says.

Nathan left driving a silver Honda CRV, North Carolina plate PAH-3753. Kochmond continues to call and text her son every hour, hoping for a response.

“I’ve been told that if the phone rings, that they can locate him. All that has to happen is the phone has to ring,” she says.

The FBI is now involved because police think Nathan may have crossed state lines. Family members have also hired a private investigator.

They’re offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to Nathan.
