HICKORY, NC – Two teenagers are recovering after they were hit by a car while trying to cross a busy road in Hickory.
The accident happened around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon on 2nd Street NE at the intersection of 13th Ave NE. That’s not too far from Hickory High School.
Police say the 15-year-olds walked into the road, despite the pedestrian signal saying not to walk.
EMS took both teens to the hospital. One has been released, the other is in stable condition.
Avianna Danner of Morganton is accused of hitting the teens.
Police say the 20-year-old had a green light, and was going 45 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.
She is charged with speeding and not having a valid driver’s license.
