Cost to cool homes could break records this summer

Keeping cool could cost more this summer.

A new analysis finds Americans can expect to shell out a record $784 on average to cool their homes from June through September. 

That’s up more than 4% from the same period last year.

The National Energy Assistance Director’s Association cites two reasons for higher costs: electricity prices rising faster than inflation and another hot summer on tap.
