Two of America’s largest cable companies agree to merge
Two of America’s largest cable companies announced they are merging Friday.
Cox Communications is combining with Charter Communications, which operates under the Spectrum name.
The reported $34.5 billion dollar deal sets to create a mega TV and internet provider.
The new company will be called Cox Communications, but Spectrum will be the consumer facing name. The transaction is contingent on regulatory approval.
Industry watchers believe this proposed deal represents a litmus test of the Trump Administration’s views on big company mergers.
