Boy hit and killed trying to cross street in Gastonia

GASTONIA, NC – Police in Gastonia are looking for witnesses after an SUV hit a boy trying to cross West Hudson Boulevard Tuesday evening.

Police say the 7-year-old boy and another child were trying to cross the street around 6 pm when the SUV hit him.

Paramedics took the boy to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was later moved to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, where he died at 10 pm.

The 76-year-old driver stopped after the accident and she has not been charged.
