UPDATE:
CHARLOTTE, NC – A woman found dead under water in west Charlotte has been identified as 46-year-old Sarah Ward.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say crews cleaning up the area found a Ward’s body on Golf Acres Drive off Wilkinson Boulevard on May 30, 2025.
Police have not released any information of the circumstances surrounding her death.

Death investigation underway Friday after a person was found dead in west Charlotte.
CHARLOTTE, NC – A death investigation is underway in west Charlotte Friday afternoon.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say crews cleaning up the area found a person dead around 1 pm on Golf Acres Drive off Wilkinson Boulevard.
CMPD says officers found a body under water when they arrived.
There’s no information on how the person died or whether foul play is suspected.
