Lincoln Co. Teen Accidentally Shot in Chest

DENVER, NC – Deputies in Lincoln County say a teenager was accidentally shot in the chest Sunday night.

Investigators say two people in their early teens were playing with a gun when it went off, hitting one of them.

It happened just after 6:00pm on Campground Road in Denver.

A Captain with the Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office described it to WCCB Charlotte as a “glancing blow” and said it could have been a lot worse.

Deputies spent about three hours at the scene collecting evidence.

Investigators say teen was taken to CMC Main in Charlotte and was expected to be released Sunday night.
