CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person died in a car crash earlier this week in southeast Charlotte.
It happened around 3 p.m. Monday in the 2700 block of Margaret Wallace Road near Independence Boulevard.
Police said 79-year-old Nina Kalapuch, driving a Toyota Camry, drove off the right side of the road and struck a retaining wall.
Kalapuch was found unconscious and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Neither speed nor impairment are believed to be contributing factors in the collision, according to CMPD’s preliminary investigation.
