CDOT Crews Say They’re Ready For Winter Weather

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte Department Of Transportation is prepped and ready for the winter weather season as crews wrapped up training Thursday that put their skills to the test.

Training included a practice run with an obstacle course, along with a dry run on the street. This year CDOT says it has 37 tandem trucks, seven new 4×4 trucks with blades, and 10 tankers to carry 50,000 pounds of salt.

Officials say salt doesn’t always work at certain temperatures, so crews will also use a chemical mixture to help keep roads safe in slick conditions.
