Morganton man charged after toddler is shot in foot

MORGANTON, N.C. – A man is charged after children were left unsupervised inside a Morganton home and one ended up shot.

Investigators say 57-year-old Danny Berry of Morganton is charged with failure to secure a firearm and felony possession of a firearm by a felon.

Burke County Sheriff’s deputies say a three-year-old was shot in the foot on Saturday and flown to the hospital for treatment. Berry is expected to face a judge Thursday.
