Vi Lyles Declares Victory in Charlotte Mayoral Race
CHARLOTTE, NC – Democrat Vi Lyles is the projected winner in Charlotte’s Mayoral Race over Republican Kenny Smith.
She declared victory and spoke to supporters at the Park Expo Center in East Charlotte around 9:20 Tuesday night.
Lyles said Charlotte has faced tough times recently, but says it’s now time to close that chapter of Charlotte history.
She will now face the challenge of bringing together a City Council with several new and younger faces.
Lyles will also become the first African-American woman to serve as Charlotte mayor.
