Local group gathers on July 4th to protest President Trump’s spending bill
HICKORY, N.C. – Hundreds of people in Hickory took to the streets in protest hours before President Donald Trump signed his massive spending bill into law this Fourth of July.
The protest was organized by the non-partisan group called Indivisible Citizens of Catawba Valley. They say more than 400 people showed up in downtown Hickory to protest the Trump administration’s stance on immigration and the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill’s” impact on millions of people on Medicaid.
