73-year-old killed in Lincoln County crash

DENVER, N.C. – A 73-year-old woman is dead after a crash in Lincoln County on Saturday.

It happened in Denver on Beth Haven Church Road near Blue Sky Drive around 2:30 p.m. 

Police say a Cadillac, driven by 18-year-old Jomar Talbert, crossed the center line and hit Shelia Ballard head-on.

Ballard died at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt.

Talbot was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash. Charges are pending.
