UPDATE (07/11/2025):
CMPD releases updated information on an accident involving several vehicles, including a CMPD cruiser in Ballantyne.
On Thursday, officers were called to the intersection of Johnston Road and Brixham Hill Avenue for a multi-vehicle crash.
CMPD says when officers arrived on the scene, they found a Tesla, a CMPD SUV cruiser, and a Kia Soul with significant damage.
Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police say.
According to investigators, the driver of the Tesla was driving southbound on Johnston Road when police say the driver failed to maintain lane control of the vehicle, went over the median, and hit the CMPD SUV.
Investigators say all drivers were screened for impairment and were found not to be impaired.
CMPD says it is unknown if speed was a factor for the driver of the Tesla.
The investigation is ongoing.

BALLANTYNE, NC – A serious accident involving several cars including a CMPD police cruiser shut down a busy road in Ballantyne on Thursday.
The accident happened just before 4:30 on Thursday at Johnston Road and Brixham Hill Avenue.
Medic responded to the scene but it unknown how many people were transported for injuries.
Our crew on the scene saw at least four cars involved.
