CMPD Investigating After Victim Fights Off Attacker During Sexual Assault

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives with the CMPD are currently investigating a sexual assault that occurred in the North Division.

On Thursday, November 16, 2017, at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s North Division responded to the 4500 block of Wynbrook Way in reference to a breaking and entering call for service.  Upon arrival, the victim advised officers that she was asleep inside of her residence when she was awoken by a male suspect who attempted to sexually assault her.  The victim advised that she got into a physical altercation with the suspect and the suspect fled from the residence on foot.

The suspect description is listed as a black male, approximately 20-25 years old with a thin build and 6 feet tall.

This is an ongoing and active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.
