One person was shot after a robbery in the parking lot at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville on Friday night.
Around 6:45 p.m., a Pineville officer at the mall heard a gunshot coming from the parking lot of the food court/Barnes and Noble area. When the officer responded to that area, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Police said the shooting stemmed from a robbery.
The officer provided life-saving measures by putting a tourniquet on the wound. The victim was transported to Atrium CMC and is in stable condition, police said.
The suspect(s) who robbed and fired the shot left the scene. Police are reviewing video surveillance and interviewing witnesses.
An investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
