ROCK HILL, SC – Former York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson is out of jail on a personal recognizance bond, following an arrest connected to a crash in Rock Hill.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol arrested Tolson. He was booked into the York County Detention Center on at 11 a.m. on Monday.

According to an arrest warrant, Tolson is accused of driving off Airport Road in Rock Hill on Sunday, and then hitting a telephone pole and a fence.

The warrant says Tolson took off after the crash and was identified during a police investigation.

Voters elected Tolson sheriff in 2016 and 2020. He withdrew from the sheriff’s race in November 2024 and left office in early 2025.
