Local woman pleads guilty to trafficking fentanyl and concealing a death

CATAWBA CO., N.C. – 33-year-old Carissa Lochbaum will spend six to eight years in federal prison after she pleaded guilty to trafficking fentanyl and concealing a death. A judge sentenced her this week.

Catawba Co. Sheriff’s Deputies first pulled Lochbaum over in May of last year and found the drugs in her car and later in her hotel room.

Just a few months before that, Lochbaum was charged for not reporting the death of a woman who died of an overdose inside a car.
