“24 Hours of Booty” underway in Myers Park amid extreme heat

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Bicyclists are braving the heat in Myers Park, riding for this year’s 24 Hours of Booty fundraiser. It’s the 24th year for the Charlotte tradition. The ride raises money to fight cancer.

Cyclists took to the “booty loop,” starting at the intersection of Wellesley and Queens Road West just a few hours ago. With the dangerous temperatures, staying safe is top-of-mind.

Charlotte resident Dan Holbrook says, “Drinking a lot of water. And the trick is just to keep moving because as long as you keep moving, you got a nice 15 mile an hour breeze, and it’s not as hot. As soon as you stop, that’s when it gets hot.”

The event runs through Saturday night at 7 pm.
