SCUBA Drowning Victim Identified

MOORESVILLE, NC —Β We know the name of a man who drowned whileΒ SCUBA diving inΒ Mooresville.

Crews recovered the body of 54-year-oldΒ AnthonyΒ Sanders Wednesday afternoon at theΒ Lake Norman QuarryΒ on GreenbayΒ Road, offΒ Highway 150.

Police say it’s a well-known spot for SCUBA divers.

“It’s a training facility, from what I’ve been told, for the divers. They come out and they do recreational diving and also, slash, training,” said Detective Nathan Speaks of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say Sanders is from Cleveland County. Β They are still awaiting the results of an autopsy.
