Β CHARLOTTE, NC — The Red Cross is ready to help out if the Charlotte region sees any severe weather or flooding from these storms. Β The disaster center in south Charlotte is stocked with more than 600 cots and twice as many blankets. Β They have food, water, and hundreds of flood clean-up kits ready to go. Β Reps say families should have a plan and supply kit ready.

“People say, ‘It’s not gonna happen to me.’ Β I’ve been in tornadoes and floods and hurricanes, and it’s always, ‘It’s gonna happen to the other guy.’ Β No it’s not!” said Red Cross Disaster Assessment Manager David Crockett.

Red Cross shelters don’t allow pets. Β If you have animals, plan to board them at a vet or kennel.
