Detention Center Nurse Charged With Having Sex With Inmate In Chester County
CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A nurse at the Chester County Detention Center is under investigation for allegedly having sex with an inmate.
According to affidavits, detectives were advised of an email sent to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office that advised of an incident between an inmate and a contract employee.
An investigation determined that Katherine Heckman, 38, had engaged in a sexual relationship with inmate Sean Kenneth Lyles, on multiple occasions in October and November of 2017.
Heckman is charged with First Degree Sexual Misconduct with an Inmate and Aiding Escape From Prison.
Reports indicate that Lyles worked in various capacities around the detention center as part of his sentence, and that Heckman would pick Lyles up and take him away from the facility for sex.
Heckman has been suspended without pay by the Chester County EMS, pending the results of a criminal investigation. Officials say Heckman was contracted to work as a nurse at the detention center where she met Lyles.
