(AP) — General manager Dave Gettleman says the Panthers want a left tackle to protect Cam Newton’s blindside and a young wide receiver for the Pro Bowl quarterback to throw to this season. Gettleman also says cornerback is an area of need as Carolina prepares for the May 8-10 NFL draft.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — NASCAR has punished Marcos Ambrose and Casey Mears for their post-race altercation in the garage at Richmond International Raceway. Ambrose was fined $25,000 on Tuesday and placed on probation through May 28. Mears was fined $15,000 and received the same probation.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Former Clemson defensive lineman Cory Groover died Sunday from injuries sustained in a car accident last week. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said the 31-year-old Groover was involved in car crash and spent several days in the hospital before passing.
