Body Discovered At Location Of Gastonia Fire

GASTONIA, N.C. — An investigation is underway after a person was found dead in a crawlspace following a fire in a vacant Gastonia building.

AtΒ 4:13 p.m.Β on Saturday December 2nd, 2017, the Gastonia Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire at 208 S. Oakland Street.

The Gastonia Fire Department says the building had been vacant over a year and the body was discovered in the crawlspace while firefighters were extinguishing fire.

The Fire Investigation Task Force and Gastonia Police Department were notified after the discovery of the body.

The case is currently under investigation.
