CHARLOTTE, NC – Car-buying expert and automotive educator The Car Chick (LeeAnn Shattuck) is teaming up with Williams Subaru to host a hands-on Car Care Workshop for Women on Saturday, September 13th at the dealership’s state-of-the-art body shop in Charlotte, NC. The event is a fundraiser for the CHM Collective and its nonprofit arm, the Mel Miller Foundation, and will also serve as a workshop for a local senior Girl Scout troop to earn their Car Care Merit Badges.
The interactive workshop is designed to demystify car maintenance and empower women to feel confident behind the wheel and under the hood. Topics include:
- How to spot and avoid unnecessary repairs
- Understanding your car’s fluids, tires, and brakes
- Decoding strange car noises
- Special considerations for hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles
- What to do in a roadside emergency
“This isn’t about teaching you how to change your own oil,” said Shattuck. “It’s about giving women the knowledge and confidence to talk to a mechanic without feeling intimidated – to recognize when they’re being sold work they don’t actually need, and to understand the maintenance that truly matters for keeping their vehicle safe, reliable, and in top condition.”
Williams Subaru, a proud member of the Williams Auto Group since 1937, is known for its approachable, family-friendly atmosphere (even welcoming four-legged family members for test drives) and community involvement. In addition to hosting the event, Williams Subaru is generously providing use of their on-site body shop and collision center for hands-on learning.
“Williams Subaru has always been more than a dealership – we’re a family,” said Williams Subaru Chief Operating Officer, Kate Downing. “Partnering with The Car Chick and CHM Collective allows us to give back to our community in a way that empowers and educates, while also supporting a great cause.”
