Wonderful weekend ahead, modest rain chances next week

Scattered showers may return to the forecast by Tuesday as a weak coastal low drifts inland.

Happy Friday! We’re back to basics for the final day of the workweek as sunny skies and near-average highs in the 70s and 80s reign supreme yet again. Expect more of the same this weekend as our neighborhood-friendly ridge of high pressure continues its dominance over the East Coast. Enjoy the wonderful weekend on the way while it lasts! While no washouts are in the forecast, some models are picking up on increasing rain chances as we head toward midweek.

The American model still keeps the WCCB Charlotte viewing area completely dry over the next seven days, but the Euro is developing a weak coastal low by Monday. At first, we’ll just see increasing clouds to kick off the new workweek, but scattered shower chances may pick up between Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening. It likely won’t be much – and some models keep us completely dry – but this will likely be our best chance for rain over the next week. Temperatures may cool a bit with the increasing cloud cover and rain chances, as well. Regardless of what happens here, sunny skies and warmer highs appear poised to return by the end of next week.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to monitor an eastern African wave that now has a 40% chance of becoming a named storm over the next seven days. There are no immediate threats to the mainland U.S. – or the Carolinas – but it’s important to stay weather-wise as we journey through the peak of hurricane season over the next couple of weeks.
