Suspect captured after police officer shot in Georgia

A suspect accused of shooting and seriously injuring a police officer in Georgia has been taken into custody.

On Saturday, authorities issued a Blue Alert for 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey, saying he could be close to Cherokee County, North Carolina.

Ramsey is accused of shooting Captain Brantley Worley just after 11 p.m. Friday night after he responded to a call about a suspicious person in McCaysville, Georgia. That is near the border with Tennessee and North Carolina.

A neighbor spoke out about the shooting.

β€œIt was shocking. It scared me,” McCaysville resident Jake Born said. β€œMy daughter’s bedroom window is 50 feet from where this all took place. So a few feet in the wrong direction could have really hurt not only the police officer but my daughter.”

There is no word where Ramsey was captured.
