CLOVER, SC — The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in an accident Wednesday morning.
Officials say 27-year-old Jake Peterson, of York, was pronounced dead on scene after an accident at the intersection of Paraham Road and Hwy 55.
The accident happened just after 11am. Troopers say 18-year-old Owen Bodine, of York, was heading east on Hwy 55 in his 2016 Jeep SUV when he hit Peterson’s ’94 Toyota pickup, heading north on Paraham, in the driver side.
Peterson was not wearing a seat belt, according to officials, and had to be removed from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Bodine was wearing a seat belt, troopers say, but was also injured in the accident. He was taken to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill for treatment.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The SCHP says the investigation of the crash is still ongoing.
